Get to Know Our Elder & Deacon Candidates - Levi Tijerina
The Summit Church is structured as a Jesus-ruled, elder-led, deacon-served, congregationally-responsible church as demonstrated in the New Testament. For the next few weeks we'll be profiling our current elder and deacon candidates so you can get to know the men and women who lead and serve The Summit Church.
Tell us a little about yourself
Hey there, My name is Levi and I’ve lived in Colorado for about fours years. In 2012, I moved here from Lithuania in an effort be closer to my long-distance girlfriend, Hillary. We were married in 2013 and since then have lived in Chaffee Park in north Denver. I work as a photographer and Hills and I get excited about travel and coffee. We have a hard time sitting still and are always keen to keep building up community and friendships here in Colorado.
What brought you to The Summit Church?
When I moved back to the U.S., we started looking for a church together and happened upon the Summit. It was a long commute up from Littleton (I was living with Hillary’s parents down there) but we decided it was the right fit for us and decided to become members and buy a house nearby where the church is located so we could be more involved in the neighborhood and heartbeat of Denver.
Why are you excited to serve as a deacon at The Summit?
I’m really excited to serve as a deacon and to be more active in the life of the church. With a schedule that takes me away from Colorado often, I think it’s especially important to actively put down roots and work to come alongside the people that make up our church. I’m excited to connect with our church and serve in some of the behind-the-scenes and help adopt a church culture that celebrates beauty, art, and unity.
