Who we are.
The Summit Church was planted in 2011 by a team of 25 individuals from Raleigh-Durham, NC. Our primary calling from the very beginning has been to live as “missionaries to Denver” and see lives changed by the Gospel of Jesus.
By God’s grace, we have been rooted in the heart of one of the fastest growing and most vibrant neighborhoods of Denver - RiNo. We are located in the heart of downtown Denver and is surrounded by art studios, craft breweries, boutique gyms, and fine dining, as well as many new high rise apartments and condos. The RiNo Arts District has become a national tourist destination and is only continuing to grow. There’s a huge emphasis on the arts and entertainment, with a growing presence of tech start-ups.
The Summit is organized to be a Jesus-ruled, elder-led, staff-operated, and member-accountable church. Our elders possess authority to make all high-level decisions, while entrusting our staff to make the vast majority of decisions under their leadership.
We belong to the Southern Baptist Convention and Acts 29.
Agreeing to our Member Covenant and Beliefs is essential.
Understanding God, Sex, and Cohabitation is a helpful resource we’ve developed to address common questions today.
Everything The Summit Church does stems from these three core values
Gospel
Our foundation is the gospel of Jesus Christ which reconciles us back into relationship with God through His death, burial, and resurrection.
Community
We are committed to living life together, walking alongside one another in all seasons of life, and pursuing growth in Christ.
Mission
We exist not only for ourselves, but also for the joy of others through spreading the good news of Jesus to our city and the world.
Worship & Staff Culture
The staff culture of The Summit is positive, thoughtful, and aligned in mission and calling. One will find both a sense of "all hands in the middle" with high collaboration, as well as the independent self-starter mode when we are each running toward our goals in various ministries. The right leader can hold this both/and well, being a team player and a self-starter.
Because The Summit Church is in the heart of the arts district in Denver, the right leader will feel a resonance and joy in urban living. They will feel energized by the surrounding community and enjoy being able to walk to schools, coffee shops and local breweries.
A few key attributes come to mind when observing the worship culture at The Summit Church:
Highly committed to authenticity and real passion
Utilization of click and pads, but have intentionally not used tracks
High value on volunteer culture
Real enjoyment of one another and collaborating on song arrangements
Desire for upward, lifted music that encourages communal singing
The Summit has a growing prayer-room and worship night culture. The church is actively pressing in and seeking the Lord for renewal and revival in the hearts and homes of those who call Denver home. The next Worship Leader will be a willing and wanting participant in joining this effort.
The Summit practices believer baptism by immersion, which is celebrated on stage within worship services. Communion is celebrated every week, typically in worshipful response to the message.
