Denver Trip Update
Trip Recap:
We’re back from a great Vision Trip to Denver. Thank you for your prayers, especially those who committed to pray specifically as part of our Project100 team. We asked people to pray for three things in particular: Location, Links, and Love. Here’s how the Lord answered your prayers:
Location – Where in the City?
We were able to see every square inch of the city…multiple times. We also spoke with numerous pastors in the city who were able to share locations that had a particular need for new churches. We learned much and are still processing all the information. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll continue this conversation and further explore the areas in which we could potentially plant.
Links – With Whom in the City?
This may have been the greatest blessing of the trip – on Friday we were able to attend an Acts29 regional meeting, where we were able to connect with a number of like-minded pastors who are already doing a great work in the city. They were encouraging, but also realistic about the challenges that church planters face.
We were also able to connect with a number of Southern Baptist leaders, including Joe Beckler (part of the North American Mission Board) and Jim Shaddix (pastor of Riverside Baptist). Both these men were a great blessing to us.
We were also fortunate to be hosted for the weekend by Brad Hovis and his wife, Haley. Brad pastors High View Church, which is partnering with Denver2011. His knowledge of the city and passion to see other churches planted in Denver was incredible.
Love – Growing to Love the City
The city did not disappoint and was as beautiful and enjoyable as when we last left it. Being able to explore and study the city, as well as learn from its people, only further confirmed our call to plant in Denver. We are continuing to fall in love with this city and its people, and our hearts are growing with a passion to see the gospel take root there.
We thank you all for your prayers – the Lord was faithful to answer each of these requests.
